more food storage, long term

Working on food storage as usual. Just purchased 100 lbs. of wheat, 25lbs. of powdered milk, Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers. Soon I am going to try the dry pack canner and put the wheat and milk into #10 cans. I also put 25 lbs. of unbleached flour in two 4 gal. buckets. Can I just leave the flour in there with some oxygen absorbers? maybe I should can that up too.
I cleaned up the garden and pulled some red beets to can. I canned up the last of the tomatoes and made tomato sauce.
A storm came through here with strong winds and knocked over the pitiful little patch of corn I had growing. It blew all the pollen away and the corn was just beginning to show silk. So much for that patch.
So much to do to keep up with this little homestead. The tent caterpillars have left the walnut trees and are headed to the house, they are everywhere. Mowing is a never ending chore.
I live on the corner of two roads and everyone can see the yard, so I have to mow everything. There was so much rain and humidity for the past two weeks everything grew so fast, things are rotting also. I pulled out some of the green beans they looked sorry.
Can up everything you can get your hands on. Buy as much food as you can afford. Get some long term food storage going.
Who knows just how deep the recession will get, depression maybe. If you listen to govtnews they tell us things are getting better. Not for a second.

freezing

Not the temperature...food..freezing food...Today is about freezing corn and peaches. Just grow your own, food that is, and put up for the future. Or find a local farmer who sells produce, in this case it was organic food Yea!!..It is impossible to find good food in the mega marts...not to mention chemical poisons being called food...

Husk corn, bring water to a boil in large kettle, blanch for 6-8 minutes, chill in cold water, cut and pack enough for one meal. Put in plastic bags and label, lay separately in freezer for faster freeze. Enjoy best in winter!!

Wash fuzz off peaches, try peeling fruit. If not ripe enough to peel, plunge in boiling water for a minute, fruit will easily peel...pit and slice, add sugar (if desired) pack in bags, label and put in freezer...These taste best slightly frozen...
